Overall satisfaction with the Government continues to be strong with the GSI jumping two points to 79 in February (up two points from January). There were no major movements, although all but three scores jumped between one to three points. The exceptions were cost of living (down three) and civil rights/freedom of speech (also down three, possibly due to Amos Yee’s impending asylum application in the US last month).
Personal financial and economic sentiment were also stronger in February in the wake of the Budget, however, overall community satisfaction was down three points. Paradoxically, community satisfaction is now down 12 points since this time last year while personal financial sentiment is up 17 points over the same period. This may indicate underlying social concerns are on the rise despite people feeling economically stable.
