Exclusive new Blackbox polling commissioned by the leading regional newspaper, the South China Morning Post, reveals that Hillary Clinton is overwhelming the preferred candidate amongst resident Asians for tomorrow’s US Presidential Election (Asian time), despite greater support for Trump in China. Overall, 76% of Asians across the region said they would vote for Clinton vs. 24% for Trump. In China, 61% said they would choose Clinton vs. 39% for Trump.
Our survey covering more than 3600 adult respondents (nationally representative) was conducted between October 12th and October 23rd 2016 across six countries – China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The survey also highlighted clear differences between China and the rest of Asia in the important area of future Sino-US relations. On all issues except human rights and IP protection, Trump scored higher than Clinton in China, whereas Clinton scored higher on all issues across the rest of Asia. Trump rates best in China on cyber security, the South China Sea and trade relations.
