NAC Youth Arts Report (Blackbox) Title PageThe National Arts Council has released a public dissemination report by Blackbox. This study focused on defining barriers and drivers of arts participation amongst youths aged 18-35.

The year-long study combined traditional and new media qualitative methodologies in an innovative approach to reaching out to the young to learn about their arts habits.

Key Findings included:

  • The extrinsic and intrinsic  factors that contributed to arts continuation
  • The key extrinsic factors: the creation and maintenance of social circles, participation avenues that are ‘fun’ and require low commitment, and finally the importance of credible and targeted information
  • Potential strategies to address these key factors.

Data Release: Singapore General Elections 2011 Voter Impressions

Singapore General Election 2011: Voter Impressions, Slide 1 We carried out a survey of 370 Singaporeans of voting age (21 and above) on 3-4 May 2011. Voters of all electorates were included with the exception of Tanjong Pagar where the vote was not contested due to a walkover. Interviews were carried out both online and telephone in order to ensure a broad reach of citizens, including those who are less likely to use the Internet.

Results have been weighted by gender, age, race and housing type to ensure a representative cross section of the Singapore community.

The survey is not intended to measure actual voting intentions at the General Election on Saturday 7 May 2011, but to measure impressions of what most commentators feel has been a fiercely contested campaign.
