About survey panels

1) What is an online survey panel?
It is a database of people who have agreed to be contacted for future market research studies. They provide their information and in return the research company gives them access to surveys which offer incentives upon completion.

2) What incentives can I earn if I join an online survey panel?
There will be incentives in terms of vouchers or cash allocated to different market research studies. It is dependent on each individual project. The incentives for each survey will be stated upfront before you take it, so you can be sure of what you will obtain at the end. Incentives are mailed to your stated mailing address.

3) Why would someone pay me for my opinions?
Our clients are very curious about what makes their consumers tick. As a research agency, we help them find out how you think, and so your opinion is very important to us. In return for your helpful feedback, it’s only fair that we compensate for the time spent on the survey.

About online survey panel participation

1) How do I join this online survey panel?
You can go to Join Our Panel to fill out a form, or simply e-mail keegan@blackbox.com.sg.

Depending on what you have submitted, we will contact you to provide your particulars for admission to the panel.

2) I don’t live in Singapore; am I eligible to join?
We welcome overseas respondents. However, the surveys you may be eligible for may not occur as frequently.

3)  What kind of surveys will I answer?
We offer a wide range of survey topics, from consumer goods to current affairs issues.

4) What is the process like for taking online surveys?
Based on your demographic profile, we will send you surveys that you qualify for. Once you receive the survey link, there will be a few initial screener questions to determine your eligibility, before you proceed to the survey proper. Surveys usually last anywhere from 10-20 minutes. Once you are done and click the final submit button, and it will be registered in our database for payment.

5) How frequently will I receive surveys in my e-mail inbox?
Only respondents who fit the criteria will receive the survey, thus not everyone will receive every single survey. On average you should receive just a few surveys a month.

Panel privacy and confidentiality

1) Why don’t I always qualify for paid surveys? And if I don’t qualify, how is my data used?
As mentioned above, each studies require different set of criteria, depending on whose feedback we are looking for. It also depends on survey topic and requirements.

If you don’t qualify, your data is recorded but not used.

2) What does Blackbox do with data collected from surveys?
We use to data to learn more about the topic of inquiry. Findings can help to improve your life, from better goods and services to improving government policies.

3) Is my personal information safe with Blackbox?
Being a market research company, we often handle sensitive information like respondent personal information. Hence, we understand your privacy concerns and it is of paramount importance to us that it is secure and remains confidential.

Additionally, we are members of ESOMAR, the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research, which governs and issues guidelines regarding market research ethics in collaboration with the International Chamber of Commerce. Thus, we adhere to their privacy and ethics guidelines very strictly.

4) How do I know Blackbox is legitimate and legal; i.e. not a marketing scam and will not require me to purchase anything?
Blackbox is an established player in the regional market research scene, with a reputable and respected presence. Also, we are members of the Market Research Society of Singapore (MRSS) and Global Research Standards Body, ESOMAR. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of conduct and integrity. and we would never contact you for anything other than the stated purpose, and we will never try to sell you anything.
